If you repair your own trans, you must ensure proper side clearance after installation, tip trans completely upright (main shaft to the sky), rotate, and check side clearance. If it clears without rubbing, flip the trans downward (mainshaft on table) rotate the trans, and make sure the fix has some side play before hitting the dogs. If it’s rubbing or hitting, contact us for a fix. In Harley’s quest for cheap manufacturing, we have found some of the tolerances on drums, forks and locators are way off, and it will make the fix rub on the dogs, which will accelerate wear on the face of the dogs.
